President's Xmas Message

A patriot is someone who thinks feels or voices expressions of patriotic support for their country. We all fit into this category and I am very proud to have met, rode and ride with all Patriots as we have a very common bond.

Many of us have also served with our units overseas at this time of year so keep a memory and prayer for our fellow service men and women and may you all have a safe and happy christmas and new year.

History of Patriots Australia -
A Tri-Service Motorcycle Club for all Serving and Ex-Serving Members

Patriots Australia is a motorcycle club for both serving and ex-serving members of the Defence Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) and does not discriminate between 'male and female warriors'.

The Patriots have been around since 1993 and were established because at one time or another, most serving and ex-serving members would have liked to join an established motor cycle club, but found that due to constant postings, this became difficult to achieve.

The Australian and New Zealand chapters are both run in strict accordance within the Department of Defence guidelines. We do not allow drugs or violence and we are firmly behind the non-sexist policy promoted by the Department of Defence (Sex Discrimination Act 1984 - Sect 3 - Objects).

We are a family oriented club and as such expect serving and ex-serving members to bring along their families to our events.

The club has grown to the stage now, that we have a chapter or sub-chapter in all but one state of Australia. There are many chapter's in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and a number in the United States. These countries provide the same welcome to members worldwide as we do.

History of the Gold Coast Chapter
'MILITARY BROTHERHOOD and BROTHERHOOD' Patch
and UN Day Commemoration

In mid 2008 a number of members voiced their opinion regarding our focus as a Chapter and whether we should subscribe to updating our profile for the benefit of the general public, and our brothers and sisters in the services.

After some very good discussion we voted overwhelmingly to adopt the MILITARY BROTHERHOOD (full members) and BROTHERHOOD (supporters) patch (to be worn on the bottom rear of our vests) as a way of notifying the public of our origins and committment.

We also agreed wholeheartedly that our Chapter should commemorate UN DAY (24 Oct) each year due to the number of members who have served on UN missions, and many more who continue to do so. To date our Chapter is the only Patriots Australia chapter to do so.

The President Speaks:

That's it!!!  2008 is now officially over for us. A great year. Our membership has firmed, and the Chapter has been approved by the NAGM. The Chapter is now a force to be reconed with. A big thanks to the committee, Fang as Vice President, Mucho as Secretary and Treasurer, Stoker as Sergeant at Arms, Dagwood as Road Captain, and Cyclops as Regalia Officer. They all did a fantastic job. "My thanks to you all".

2009 is just around the corner, and already we have two new enquiries for membership. Our first meeting will confirm our ride and events calendar, so I urge all members to be present at that meeting. MUCHO will have details of that on this website, and will contact each member individually in the New Year.

Our Xmas Bash went well with three new members being confirmed. Congratulations to them. Photos on the night are now loaded on our Gallery page.

I wish all members a very merry Xmas, and safe and happy New Year.
